Position Summary:       

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Associate for several ongoing research studies. Research within the lab focuses on 1) identifying psychological and social factors associated with treatment nonadherence among patients with chronic illness, particularly diabetes; and 2) developing psychosocial and behavioral interventions to improve adherence to treatment recommendations. Position Responsibilities:

Ongoing studies currently include interventions targeting emotional distress in young adults with Type 1 diabetes, a diabetes prevention intervention for Black and Latino men, and a study examining glycemic control in relation to cognitive performance among older adults with T2D, which includes an ancillary study focused on medication adherence. The majority of studies are conducted remotely and involve several technologies (smartphone apps, continuous glucose monitors [CGM], electronic medication caps, accelerometers).

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting clinical assessments (e.g., MINI, SIGH-A)
  • Providing CBT interventions to participants
  • Providing clinical supervision to doctoral students
  • Assisting with research responsibilities. These responsibilities include administrative tasks (e.g., IRB), project coordination, data management, and providing support for NIH progress reports for ongoing projects.
  • Providing support to Dr. Gonzalez and other staff in preparing abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
  • Providing support for the preparation of grant applications.

In addition, there are opportunities to work on research projects that would lead to first-authored abstracts and manuscripts for the clinical research associate. Opportunities for co-authoring abstracts and manuscripts will also be available. Ideally, we are seeking clinical research associates interested in medicine, public health, and/or clinical, health or social psychology.

Experience & Educational Background
  • M.A./ M.S. in Psychology or related field preferred (or in progress)
  • Experience in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is preferred.
  • Experience supervising others is preferred.
  • Previous research experience is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively across multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
