Job Description

Jefferson Health seeks a Medical Director of Ambulatory Behavioral Health to join our growing Behavioral Health service line in New Jersey.The ideal candidate will serve in this collaborative physicianrsquo;s role providing direct psychiatric care, while also dedicating approximately 20% of their time to overseeing our behavioral health medical services in the outpatient setting and ensuring the appropriate and most cost-effective medical care is received.

Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with the Clinical Department Administrator, and Jefferson Regional and Enterprise Department Leads, the Medical Director will provide clinical oversight across the ambulatory service line which includes partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and office based outpatient locations.

  • Act as Collaborating Physician for Department Advanced Practice Providers for clinical supervision, as well as providing clinical direction for staff Psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and support staff.

  • Provide clinical consultation and serve as clinical/strategic advisor to enhance clinical operations.

  • Evaluate, diagnose and manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.

  • Program management responsibilities include clinical policy development, program development/implementation, provide guidance for clinical operational aspects of programs, and oversee clinical/non-clinical activities.

  • Develop and implement behavioral health and substance use disorder programs to improve quality, cost, and outcomes.

The Behavioral Health service line in New Jersey is an interdisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and licensed therapists providing comprehensive services for children, adolescents, and adults including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, utilizing a patient centered trauma informed approach to treatment.

In addition to offering a flexible work week, Monday-Friday, with patient hours offered between 7am-7pm available, with hybrid (telehealth and in person) provided, our practice provides well-appointed offices, an EMR system with electronic prescribing (EPIC), peer consultation groups, and dedicated professionals with whom to collaborate. We also have talented support staff who handle everything from credentialing to insurance authorizations, scheduling appointments, and collection of payments.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO degree or equivalent medical degree from a medical school of recognized standing

  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry

  • Certification: Board Certification in General Psychiatry, in addition to current DEA and CDS (NJ) certificate without restriction

  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey

  • Experience in coordinating with primary care or psychosomatic medicine preferred

  • Experience treating patients across the lifespan preferred

  • Must have strong human relations

  • Excellent communications skills and clinical acumen

  • Ability to use common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
