Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated User Experience Researcher, Next Generation Technology with a focus on emerging technology (AI/ML, AR/VR, IoT and Edge Computing etc.) and a passion for qualitative methods to join our team. In this role, you will lead and support research projects, from preparation and data collection to analysis and reporting. You will mentor and train colleagues, contribute to thought leadership initiatives, and assist with client management and business development. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in UX or related fields, strong communication and client relationship skills, and a demonstrated ability to moderate sessions, develop discussion guides, and provide insightful research recommendations.

About User Experience (UX):

UX, a subdivision of our Customer Experience team, covers all aspects of the end-user's interaction with a company, and its products. UX research is at the heart of user-centered design, which is based on the notion that design should be informed by research about users, their expectations, their activities, and their interactions with products. Ipsos believes that as part of a user-centered design process, every design decision should be informed in part by UX research. Moreover, Ipsos believes that simply conducting evaluative UX research on completed designs is not as effective as conducting UX research throughout the process.

What makes this role important at Ipsos?

The UX Researcher executes core project activities with autonomy and accuracy. UX Researchers are proficient in all aspects of project work and are increasingly able to lead interactions with clients in the context of project work. This role is responsible for performing activities that directly support senior UX team members in preparation, execution, and reporting for studies and/or support design teams with engagements-their work is consistently high quality and thoughtful.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Plan and conduct qualitative user research studies: This includes preparing and executing in-depth interviews, usability testing, ethnographic research, and other methods to gather insights into user needs and behaviors. Familiarity with quantitative methods is also a positive.
  • Analyze and synthesize research findings: Translate research data into clear, concise, and actionable insights that drive informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams: Work closely with senior leadership in UX and across Ipsos to execute research agendas and manage client relationships including direct interaction with designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies: Maintain a strong understanding of the latest trends in UX research and emerging technologies, such as AR/VR, AI/ML, and voice interfaces with the capability to quickly become an expert
  • Communicate research findings effectively: Present research results in a clear and compelling way to diverse (technical and non-technical) audiences both verbally and in writing.

This role might be for you if you have:

  • Education and Experience: 3+ years of experience in user experience research or design is highly preferred. Minimum Bachelor's degree with preference for Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Science, Information Sciences, Digital Media or a related field.
  • Experience with Technical Domains: Proven ability to conduct in-depth interviews with developers and technical audiences, effectively gathering insights on complex computing topics and translating them into actionable findings. Bonus if you have experience with programing and developing computational tools.
  • Independent and Self-Directed: Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness, with the ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to achieve project goals with minimal supervision, even when juggling multiple projects simultaneously.

If you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we encourage all who feel they might be a fit for the opportunity to apply. We may consider a variety of backgrounds for a particular role and are also committed to considering candidates for available positions throughout our organization, not just the one you're applying to!

In accordance with NY/CO/CA/WA law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $100,000. Your final base salary will be determined based on several non-discriminatory factors which may include but are not limited to location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.

What's in it for you:

At Ipsos you'll experience opportunities for Career Development, an exceptional benefits package (including generous PTO, healthcare plans, wellness benefits), a flexible workplace policy, and a strong collaborative culture.
