Job Description:

Responsibilities

This position will be part of a dynamic team aiding in the AIDS Institute's mission to end epidemics, fight stigma, and promote health for all New Yorkers. The Bureau of HIV/AIDS Epidemiologyconducts routine HIV and AIDS surveillance, innovative surveillance projects, and special HIV/AIDS epidemiologic research, including behavioral surveillance of persons at risk for HIV and interview studies of persons receiving medical care for HIV. Data dissemination activities allow the NYSDOH and community agencies to monitor and track the HIV/AIDS epidemic in NYS. The bureau also provides information to target resources and to evaluate programs.

The Clerk II will perform data entry, which includes entering and verifying information into New York State data systems; conduct daily case reviews to determine if incoming documents match to existing cases in the HIV Surveillance System or do not match and need to be assess for additional follow-up; provide clerical support for producing spreadsheets, graphs, presentations, and charts using a variety of software; participate in a bureau wide scanning project to reduce the amount of stored confidential paper case report forms; related duties include scanning, creation of scanning logs, review of scanned documents for viewability, follow storage protocols, and shredding; assist with communications and general office support tasks which include but are not limited to filing, photocopying, phone coverage, and administrative support for the program.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field or higher degree in a related field; OR two years of general office, secretarial, or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated, strong background in data entry, quality review and handling of sensitive information. Experience organizing, sorting, and merging health data. Experience identifying data entry errors and standardization of data. Experience working with confidential, health-related data. Proficiency using software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat to prepare documents, graphs, slides, presentations, and spreadsheets. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
