Position Description

Princeton HealthCare System is currently searching for a full time, days, OR Tech for University Medical Center at Princeton
 
The OR Tech Performs a wide range of technological duties by acquiring and maintainingknowledge of the principles of infection control, aseptic technique, and sterilization.  
 
Applies these skills appropriately. Acquires and maintains the knowledge to assist the surgeon during surgical procedures. Acquires and maintains knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
 
 
 
·         Scrub on surgical procedures.
 
·         Practices aseptic technique, utilizes disinfection and sterilization principles, and maintains universal precautions.
 
·         Operates equipment per guidelines/policy.
 
·         Maintains and acquires knowledge of instruments including identification, proper use, and appropriate decontamination and disinfection/sterilization.
 
·         Maintains competency and updates skills.
 
·         Circulates under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of practice of an LPN/Technician.
 
·         Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborates with other
 
·         caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
 
·         Maintains standards of confidentiality.
 
·         Age-Specific Knowledge & Skills – Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients’ physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and development levels/patient populations served within the department.
 
·         Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards.
 
·         Other duties and projects as assigned.
 
 
 
Qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited surgical technology program.  Minimum 2 years experience as an OR Tech required.
